Camille, the designer behind the online brand Coexist, describes her personal style as feminine but edgy—Kate Moss meets Coco-Chanel. Influenced by Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang, she likes to mix and match her outfits without looking over-the-top. It’s always good to have one key piece in an outfit, she says.
1. What was your favorite trend from 2009?
Definitely the bold shoulders. Since I don’t have broad shoulders, the trend was a godsend.
2. What will you keep in your closet?
All my sequined clothes, my harem and dhoti pants and leather jackets.
3. What do you see as the big trends for 2010?
Layering of soft fabrics, draping and digital prints. Also, lots of neutrals and sheer numbers.
4. What will you try wearing in 2010?
Tasteful lingerie-inspired pieces maybe. I’ve pretty much tried all the trends; you just have to find a way to work with them.
5. What will you buy more of?
Shoes! Mostly high-heeled booties with architectural influences. And pieces with huge tassels! Also, I’d buy more of unique one-of-a-kind pieces and to go for more intricate pieces that give value for my money.
