Many people believe that a service dog can only be for the blind or the deaf. This is a misconception! The Americans with Disabilities Act clearly states that any dog (or animal for instance) that performs a service that aids the disabled person can be classified as a service dog (animal.) The ADA clearly states that Identification papers are not needed for a service dog or animal. However, most businesses will not accept the patients verbal claim that the dog is a service animal. They want to see some official documentation stating the dogs classification and the patients need for the dog to accompany them.
This is where Registered Service Dogs comes to the rescue. We can supply the patient with first class identification papers for their animal that is accepted by all businesses. We have been in business in Washington State for three years and are also registered with the Better Business Bureau.
Following the above guidelines, Registered Service Dogs has two requirements. The first requirement is that a medical doctor has to prescribe the dog for the patient. Registered Service Dogs has provided a form on their website which makes this easier for the doctor. The patient fills in the top part of the form which is basic information about the animal and the patient.. Then the form is printed out. The form is then taken to the doctor for signature. Without the doctors signature Registered Service Dogs cannot and will not supply the necessary identification for the patient.
The second requirement is that the same form is taken to the patients Veterinarian for signature. What the Veterinarian is required to do is to make a statement that to the best of their ability they believe that this animal is safe to be in public.
When the form is completed it can be faxed into the company. The fax number is: 1-877-572-5670. Once the fax is received we will complete your package and get it into the mail to you within five business days.
