Actor Akshay Kumar''s stunt at the recent Lakme Fashion Week, where his wife Twinke Khanna unbuttoned the top button of his jeans, has landed the police in a fix.
The Vakola police on Wednesday received a complaint, demanding action against the actor’s stunt that it termed as “offensive”. The police are now considering whether or not the ‘unbuttoning’ act warrants booking of the actor and the organisers for obscenity.
Akshay, the brand ambassador of Levis jeans, unveiled its ‘Unbuttoned’ brand at the Lakme Fashion Week on Tuesday at the Grand Hyatt, Santa Cruz.
Anil Nair, who describes himself as a social worker, submitted a written complaint against the actor, his wife Twinkle, the show organizer and the hotel management, to the Vakola police station, urging the police to book them for indecent, vulgar and obscene behaviour.
“Many mothers complained to me about the indecent behaviour at the show and asked me to take up the matter with the police. It’s the complaint of scores of parents,” Nair said. He said he was not opposed to western culture but to indecent behaviour.
“We have received the complaint and are looking into the matter,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Nisar Tamboli told Hindustan Times.
He said they should be booked under section 292 related to sale of obscene objects and section 293, related with sale of obscene objects to young persons. Nair also provided various news paper clippings and video footage of the show to the police.
