A police head constable from Rajasthan, Mahavir Singh, has turned crorepati overnight. Thanks to the multi-crore money-multiplier scam
in Ahmedabad. Singh earned nothing less than Rs 3.75 crore from the scam, which was fuelled by conman Ashok Jadeja.
Jadeja revealed this startling piece of information during narco-analysis conducted recently. Police sources told TOI, "Jadeja had been cooperative during investigation and interrogations, but he never revealed information like this. Jadeja made many other important revelations during narco-analysis."
CID sleuths probing the scam suspected Jadeja was hiding more than he had revealed prompting them to seek permission from the court to grill Jadeja under the influence of truth serum.
"We have got 21 complaints in different cities involving nearly 7,000 complainants. But, all efforts to track down those who made money had not borne fruit. The narco-analysis helped resolve this issue," said a police source.
"Under the influence of truth serum Jadeja revealed Singh''s name. In Ahmedabad we have got many names which include Manu Parmar, Raghu Parmar, Viren Didawala of Naroda, each of whom have earned more than Rs 80 lakh," said police sources.
Jadeja was asked 36 questions. "He confessed that on January 18, 2009, he placed an advertisement in a newspaper promising to give food grains worth three times the money invested with him. Later, when people refused to take food grains, he started doling out cash as the number of investors
grew by leaps and bounds.
