KANPUR: The exuberance was at its peak and the students with smiling faces and shining eyes in the jam-packed hall made every possible effort to
have a glimpse of their ideal, NR Narayana Murthy, Infosys founder and company''s mentor who arrived at the IIT-K as the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebrations slated to begin from Saturday.
While replying to a question on how to set up successful entrepreneurship asked by a student, Murthy said, "For setting up an entrepreneurship, it''s important to have an idea which has a value to the market. The market should be ready for your idea and you should have a pool skilled people. When all the three criteria meet, a successful entrepreneurship can be set up."
Remembering his days at IIT-Kanpur, Murthy shared some incidents with students which had the latter burst into laughter. "IIT-K was a wonderful place when I studied here. Once we were only served mangoes in all the three meals for three days, which is the unforgettable moment of life," reminisced Murthy.
Murthy told students about his meeting with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in IIT-K during his stay in the Hall V (hostel) and shared the aspects of his personal life with them. Answering to one of the questions raised by a student, Murthy said, "Hope keeps me going ahead in this tough life and the hard work put in to achieve the desired results gives the momentum."
Everytime Murthy was asked a tough query, he candidly referred it as a "wonderful question" to which the students burst into laughter.
Infosys mentor expressed happiness when girls too posed questions to him. Santosh Kumar, BTech III year student and Ruchi, BTech II year student were the others who got the opportunity to "grill'''' Murthy.
Ending the session, Murthy gave an inspiring message to the students, "When you give up the warm embryo of a well-settled job things are initially frustrating. But the will to do something different from others under tough conditions that prevail thereafter is sure to invite success for you."
Earlier, excited students occupied the seats in the Outreach auditorium much before Murthy''s arrival.
The security guards had a tough time managing the large number of bicycles parked outside the auditorium. The infosys founder entered the hall to a standing ovation and rapturous applause by the audience.
Murthy easily mixed with the students during the interactive session and answered their queries.
When the 50-minute session ended and Murthy got down from the dais there was a mad rush for his autograph. Escorted by security guards, Murthy reached his car and left as students lined up to bid him adieu.
