Article:
There are many places in the world where this old saying: “It’s a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there…” goes. However, Hawaii is an exception to this rule as each and every single year millions of tourists choose this location as their vacation destination. Some of them come here year after year and are seriously thinking of purchasing a home here and making their vacation permanent.

Buying a property in Hawaii isn’t something new but it is growing in popularity day by day. As far as the prices in this area are concerned, they have been continuously going up for the last few years as many home owners feel that owning a home in Hawaii isn’t such a bad idea anymore. On the down side, living in Hawaii even as a part-time resident may impose some adjustments and sacrifices in order to fully accommodate to the area. According to the state numbers and statistics, Honolulu is the 7th most expensive American city to live in. Speaking of expensive, so are the homes here: in 2nd quarter of 2009 the median sales price of a single-family home on Oahu was $569,500 mark, while the median sales price for single family homes on Maui in August 2009 has declined to $500.000

Less expensive homes can be purchased on the Big Island where the median sales price of a house is $235,000 or on Kauai where the price is situated at approximately $384,450. A median sales price for condominiums on Oahu in 2nd quarter of 2009 was $307,500. Roughly put, the median value of owner-occupied homes in Hawaii is twice the national average.

If you are looking for a home in Hawaii, make time to get acquainted with the surrounding area. Real estate experts advise people that are searching for a property here to make at least three visits and also advise people to work closely with an agent that is familiar with the market area. If you thought that all six main islands were the same, you were wrong as they have many differences. If you are a fan of the big city life we recommend that you search for a property in Oahu rather than Lanai.

If you aren't very happy with traffic, Molokai (where there aren’t any traffic lights) would be more appropriate for you in comparison with Maui for example. The bright side to all of these variations is that whichever island you choose, you will get a full menu of home options ranging from lavish resort condominiums and single-family abodes to attractive townhouses and upscale homes. Hawaii has something to offer for all tastes and that is a certainty as people of different cultures, races, and social status come here every year.

All things considered, if you have resources to afford purchasing a home in Hawaii, don’t hesitate as this is literally a corner of heaven, that is why millions of tourists visit this fascinating place every year and some of them come here not just for one vacation, some of them make a habit from visiting Hawaii and all of the exquisite islands.
