Periyar National Park
It is the most admired wildlife holiday spot in Kerala located in Idukki district on the mountain ranges of Western Ghats sharing its boarder with another South Indian state, Tamil Nadu. The park covers about 350 sq-km core area of dense forests and rich collection of wildlife. The protected area is globally known for Indian Elephants. More than one thousand elephants have their permanent residence inside this reserve. These elephants are the major attractions of Periyar protected area. Gaur, bison, horse deer, Indian wild dogs and leopards are also spotted in significant population inside Periyar Park. A scenic Periyar Lake also flows through this reserve adds more charm to its natural beauty. Eravikulam National Park
Located in Idukki district in vicinity of popular hill town Munnar, Eravikulam National Park is also a worth visit wildlife reserve of the state, It covers about 97 sq-km of area and exceptionally blessed by the natural beauty. It is an undulating region and covered with grasslands, shrub lands and lush green forests areas. There are numbers of exciting wildlife creatures found inside the beautiful Eravikulam National Park. Nilgiri Tahr is the major wildlife attraction of this reserve and found in significant population about more than 750 in numbers. Gaur, sambar deer, golden jackal, wild dog, leopard and tiger are other exciting creatures found inside the protected region. Variety of birds, reptiles and amphibian can be also seen in Eravikulam Reserve.

Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve
It is the second largest wildlife protected area in the state of Kerala and also spreads in two other South Indian states as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. It covers approximately area of more than 1450 sq-km and forms a complete ring around the beautiful Nilgiri Plateau. It is a wonderful destination for wildlife and nature lovers to visit on Tour Kerala. The reserve is the home of some rare wildlife species including royal Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephant, and Nilgiri Tahr. It is also in concern by UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site.
